Hand-Carved Mukwa Serving Set — Totem Salad Servers (Set of 2)

Handmade mukwa wood salad servers with carved giraffe totem handles, made in Zimbabwe.

A celebration of the giraffe in wood form, this two-piece serving set transforms a daily ritual into an act of considered collecting. Each server is hand-carved from a single length of mukwa its warm, open grain visible across the generous serving heads before the handle is worked into the elongated body of a giraffe in full standing posture. The signature reticulated coat pattern is rendered through a painstaking relief-carving technique: deep, ebonised channels define the irregular polygon markings across the neck and torso, the natural honey wood left proud between them to replicate the animal's distinctive two-tone hide with remarkable fidelity.

The giraffe's legs taper into four small hooved feet at the base, each carved in the round and finished in the same darkened tone as the coat detailing. A looped oval arch the animal's neck and head forms the grip point, making the handle as ergonomic as it is sculptural. The transition from dark carved handle to the clean, unworked serving head is abrupt and intentional: craft object meeting functional form without apology.
